The years 2023 and 2024 were designated as “Visit Korea Year”, a nationwide campaign aimed at strengthening Korea’s presence in the global tourism market and attracting more inbound travelers. The campaign was launched as part of efforts to revitalize Korea’s tourism sector in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
With a goal of attracting 30 million foreign visitors by 2027, the campaign has focused on leveraging K-Culture (Hallyu), improving travel infrastructure, and implementing global marketing strategies tailored to different regions.

👪 Increase in Foreign Visitors
According to the report, approximately 10.84 million foreign travelers visited Korea in 2023, recovering about 61.4% of pre-pandemic levels (compared to 2019). Notably, visitor numbers from Japan, China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia showed significant growth. The K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) system was also expanded to allow smoother entry for eligible visitors.
